Abstract text: |
Tumbling mills, both AG/SAG and Ball are now well accepted to be energy and process inefficient. A new generation of comminution devices which can produce much steeper product size distributions are currently under development. Combined with precise classification, these devices will produce feeds which are well suited to gravity concentration and should reduce flotation losses at both coarse and fine sizes. They would also potentially be tailored to precision liberation of gangue phases and thus provide a new option to facilitate up front rejection opportunities in the mine ahead of processing. These devices are reviewed and their process implications are considered. |
