Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mining Innovation Hub

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mining Innovation Hub - unlocking value for Australian mining through technology development.

The Kalgoorlie-Boulder Mining Innovation Hub (Kal Hub) – a CRC ORE initiative, is a focused collaboration between Researchers, METS and Miners. The Kal Hub is working to unlock value for Australian mining through technology development

Western Australian research and development projects, primarily focused on the Goldfields region, are coordinated through the Kal Hub. These projects centre on two key Grade Engineering levers, namely Preferential Grade by Size Deportment and Particle Sorting and have been conducted across multiple different sites.

The flagship $1.3 million Integrated Screening and Particle Sorting (ISPS) initiative was delivered through the Kal Hub. The ISPS project involved partnership between five mining companies, three METS companies, Curtin University and the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA).
Kal Hub’s engagement continues with regional miners, METS, research organisations, government, and industry groups.

“This hub will offer workers development training from Australia’s best scientists, engineers and mining experts.” The Honourable Bill Johnston MLA, Minister for Mines and Petroleum, Western Australia .
